Some people enjoy living in the country but others prefer big city life. Compare these two places and give your opinion.
In the country, we can live in the midst of nature. Countryside houses are spread out and there is plenty of greenery. Sometimes green paddy fields or orchards are found in the neighborhood. The beautiful surroundings with trees and shrubs are pleasing to our eyes. Moreover the air is fresh and cool, which is good for a healthy living. A country life is full of charms. The rippling rivers, the grazing cows and the chirping birds give us great pleasures in life. Country life is cheaper than town life. The people who live in the country are a contented community because they have few desires.
Houses in the city are generally provided with modern conveniences such as electricity, running water, telephones and all sorts of labour-saving devices. There are plenty of means of communication: buses, taxi-cabs, etc. City dwellers have more means of improving their minds than countrymen: day schools and night courses, public and private libraries, lectures and exhibitions.
There are many places in the city where you can get a bite or a drink: restaurants, coffee-houses, tea-rooms, bars and refreshment rooms, etc.
Last but not least, the city provides its inhabitants with various sorts of entertainments, playgrounds and sports fields, public gardens, museums, movie-theaters, concerts…
For my part, no matter how comfortable or convenient the city life may be, I till prefer living in the country. I think it is healthier and more peaceful to live in countryside than in a city.
